This weekend, the Central and Southern Region Darts Leagues took an important step in that journey as they convened their Annual General Meetings to reflect, plan, and strengthen the foundations of Malawi darts.

The Darts Association of Malawi (DAM) has welcomed the successful hosting of Annual General Meetings (AGMs) by both the Central Region Darts League (CRDL) and Southern Region Darts League (SRDL) over the weekend, marking another important step in the continued growth and professionalisation of darts in Malawi.

The Southern Region Darts League convened its AGM at Wanderers Club in Blantyre, while the Central Region Darts League gathered at SMEDI in Mponela on the same day, bringing together clubs, leaders, and stakeholders to review the past season and chart the way forward.

While AGMs may not attract the same attention as tournaments and championships, they remain one of the most important events in the sporting calendar. They provide an opportunity for members to review performance, strengthen governance, elect leaders where necessary, and make decisions that shape the future of the game.

For DAM, strong and accountable regional structures are the foundation of a successful national association. The ability of both leagues to convene their members, reflect on progress, and plan for the future demonstrates the growing maturity and stability of darts administration across Malawi.

In the Central Region, members reviewed a season that saw the league host successful competitions, strengthen partnerships, and continue producing players who excelled at national level. The AGM also approved several governance reforms aimed at improving professionalism within the league, including measures relating to player transfers, discipline, and league administration. Members also elected Sunday Nkhoma as the league's new Treasurer.

The meeting further highlighted ongoing efforts to support women and youth participation in darts, reflecting a commitment to ensuring the sport remains inclusive and accessible to future generations.

Although the details of the Southern Region AGM are still being compiled, its successful convening alongside the Central Region gathering is itself a positive signal of the strength of regional darts structures and the commitment of clubs to the development of the sport.
